This is a collaborative resource built by and for our members. If you’re new to wikis, don’t worry—this page will walk you through how to contribute responsibly and effectively.

You’ll need a registered account to edit or add content. Use your Make Santa Fe login to sign in.

Most pages are written in Markdown (a simple text formatting language). Some parges are rich text, and some pages are HTML.
- You don’t need to know coding — just a few basics like # Headings, **bold**, *italics*, and lists.
- See our Markdown Cheatsheet for quick reference.
- You can also write your content in any program and simply convert it to markdown usign this converter.

Use the search bar to locate a tool, studio, or policy page.
- If the information is out of date, unclear, or missing, you can help by updating it. Red Links mean the page does not exist. Help us and create it!

Keep edits focused. For example: fixing a typo, updating consumables, or adding missing safety rules.
- For larger changes, add a note in the Edit Summary box to explain what you changed.
- Instructors can edit curriculum pages which are the main document for instructors to follow while teaching classes.
- Instructors can edit Studio Pages which is where studio policies and rules, and other notes.
- Members can edit Tool Pages which contain a detailed list of every tool at Make (currently at about 30% complete). Manuals, consumables, replacement parts, how-to guides, etc
- Members can edit Resources which contain educational and inspirational content related to making
- Check to see if one already exists under a different name or url (try searching).
- Make sure the name of the content is specific
Example: “Laser Cutter (Boss LS3655)” instead of just “Laser.”
- Use
[link text](page-slug-url)
to connect content and avoid duplication. There should be a single source of truth. The same content in multiple places is never a good idea.
- This wiki is a quick-reference guide. Save personal stories or opinions for Slack or in-person discussions.
- Always confirm details before posting (especially tool settings, safety instructions, or policies).
- If you’re unsure, ask staff or leave a note for review.
- Don’t create multiple pages for the same subject. Link to the existing one instead.
- Use professional, factual language.
- Don’t post copyrighted material without permission.
- Major changes should include a short description in the Edit Summary so others can follow the history.
- Unsure if your contribution belongs? Start a draft or ask a staff member.
- Fix a typo or formatting issue.
- Add missing tool consumables.
- Clarify a safety protocol.
- Link related studio pages.
- Update a class description if something has changed.
This wiki is only as strong as the people who contribute to it. Your edits help other makers learn faster, stay safe, and make more. Don’t be afraid to start small—every contribution makes the wiki better.
